Gymnast Simone Biles is on the verge of Olympics superstardom as she represents the USA and wows the world with her incredible talent at the Rio Summer Games.
She also has an incredible backstory.
The Bleacher Report shares that Simone and her siblings were born to a mother who had incredible challenges with drug and alcohol addiction.
Things got so bad that authorities in Ohio, where Simone was born, intervened and took the kids away.
With the kids in foster care, officials reached out to Simone’s paternal grandfather and his wife.
The question was huge to Ron and Nellie Biles.
With all their kids pretty much grown, would they be willing to start over? To take in 5-year-old Simone and her then 3-year-old sister, Adria.
They were in.
The two little girls moved to Texas. Simone and Adria’s older siblings went to Ron’s sister.

From the start, Nellie describes a little girl who was full of energy.
Gymnastics proved the perfect outlet.
A year after getting the girls, Ron and Nellie legally adopted them.
Simone considers Ron and Nellie to be her parents. She calls them, “Mom and Dad.”

As for how Simone handles her personal story, she recently told Time Magazine, “When I was younger, I thought every kid was adopted,” she says. “I didn’t understand why people made it such a big deal. To me it’s just normal.”
That set the foundation for Simone to become what many are describing as the greatest gymnast the world has ever seen.
So, keep that in mind, as you delight and watch Simone Biles soar through the air in Rio.
This young lady knows how to overcome obstacles.
She truly knows how to soar.
She scored highest on the floor exercise qualification round Sunday night.
